Jerseys

Baseball continues to be in full swing, and the boys finally have their jerseys. I love them in their cute little uniforms, could there be anything more American?!!!

R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

I tried to video one of the group routines (Respect) that I am choreographing for the spring show, but it didn't turn out too well, since it was just on my phone. Oh, well.

Tonight was the dress rehearsal for the spring show this weekend. I am exhausted from running up and down the hallway 50 times in my skates looking for the next skater or group. But I think it went pretty well. It started at 4:15 and ended at 7:30. Whew!

Max Mowing

Max learned how to mow the lawn last night and he did a great job. He really enjoyed himself while he was doing it as well. He told Markus after he had finished that he should feel how it feels while the motor is running. I guess he likes the feeling of a power mower!

The Baptism of Korbin and Cody

Baptism Day Photos:
My brother Adam's sons were baptised today. Cody is on the right and Korbin is on the left. His two daughters are also in this photo, Melanie and Brittany.

In this photo: (l to r) Brittany, Cody, Melanie, Korbin, Grandma K., Russ and Beverly K., Lisa  (Adam's ex-wife) and her new husband Brent.

Rocco, M, Marilee, Greg, my Mom and K discussing where we were meeting afterwards for dinner.

Cute family - my brother Adam couldn't be at his sons baptism for some strange reason, but their mom and step-dad were there as well as most of the ward where they live. It was probably one of the biggest baptisms I have been to in a long time.

Cousins

Korbin is such a cute little kid. He gave me the biggest hug afterwards, what other 11 year old boy do you know that would give his aunt a hug? And Cody is just plain cool. Check out his spiky hair after his baptism-you can tell he is 13!

Sisters, B, M and M

Ben used to always call Melanie "Christina Agulierra" when she was younger and she would call him "Ricky Martin". Hard to believe she is 18. I have a picture of her as a baby at our wedding reception. I am not that old.

Markus kept getting confused on the way out to the baptism. He kept saying, "When are we going to the baptism of Zac and Cody?!!!" I think he meant Korbin and Cody, but was confusing them with "The Suite life of Zac & Cody" instead!

Eat at Joe's

Max won an award at school for a free dinner at Joe's crab shack. So I took both he and Markus tonight for a yummy dinner. They both thought it was so fun, and I thought the crab was pretty tasty. I haven't had it in such a long time.

The balloon man came by to make them balloons, they played in the play land and then we watched all the servers do their line dance. All 3 of us had a pretty good time.

Hockey Skills

So I have been teaching these hockey skill clinics for power skating lately. And I have been wearing my hockey skates to teach them in, it is amazing how much more comfortable they are then my old squishy ones. Coach Joe gave me a couple of power skating videos to watch before teaching the clinics, which were pretty informative if you have never skated before, but since I have been teaching skating forever, I really didn't learn anything new from them. I just think it is kind of funny that he thought I would find them useful. I mean skating is skating, whether it is in figure skates or hockey doesn't really make a difference, the basic technique is the same. I do think it is more challenging to teach the pee-wees and bantams however, probably because they already think they know how to skate when they really don't have very good technique. I like a good challenge though, so it is fun.

Friends

I went to lunch at my good friend Heidi's house today. We had a great time talking and laughing. She took some photos with her cool camera so I am going to see if I can get her to forward them on to me so I can post them out here. We had salads from Cafe Rio and talked for a couple of hours. Everyone needs good friends like I have, everyone!

Coach Joe

Markus' hockey coach, Joe (in the photo above on the left), married a hockey mom last month in San Diego. He married Monica (pictured above right) who has two boys that play hockey.

Tonight the managers at the rink threw them a surprise reception and invited all their families, friends, and the employees and their families to attend. So we went and Markus and Max brought some of their friends to skate with them. It was really a fun reception and especially fitting that it was at the rink since that is where they met. They are cute together and he has been in a much better mood at work since he got married. It is amazing the difference.

Friend Friday

Morgen had his friend Austin over to spend the night again today and I had to take a photo of him in his new braces. Morgen has had his on for almost three years now, and Austin just had his put on this week.
Max invited his friend Justin to spend the night and Markus had his friend Lucas over. They played baseball outside and then watched some X-men when they came in. Markus is loving Wolverine right now, probably because the new movie is coming out soon. I don't know, but you know Markus, once he gets into something, he is in to it!

Broom Ball

For the last day of the school district classes at the rink today, I let the kids play broom ball. They loved it and did not want to get off when their time was up. I am glad that I had the opportunity to teach so many cute kids to ice skate. I hope I get the chance to do it again next year.

Tax Day

I am not sure why anyone would say "Happy" tax day....what is so great about paying taxes, other than living in America? I guess it is worth it.

My brother in law Mark is an attorney and poli sci activist to say the least, and he went to the so called "Tea Party" that was held around the country today. This was his status post to Facebook ...

After drawing upon over five years of study in political theory, American
government, and law, and three years of experience in working with city, state,
and federal government, I exercised my constitutionally secured right to
assemble and disagree with the Obama administration's economic policy. Now Keith
Olbermann and Janeane Garofalo are calling me a racist redneck with a
neurological problem.

Thoughts on Love

My cousin Vickie sent me another email. I thought it was cute so here you go.....

Sometimes we think there is only one kind of love.
But…if we listen to the words of these children,
it reminds us that love is all around if we open our hearts
and stay receptive to all the shapes that love can take.

We can all learn alot from children!

Slow down for three minutes to read this.
It is so worth it. Touching words from the mouths of babes.

What does 'Love' mean? A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-old's, 'What does 'love' mean?' The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think:

'When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time,
even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love.' Rebecca- age 8

'When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.' Billy - age 4

'Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.' Karl - age 5

'Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.' Chrissy - age 6

'Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.' Terri - age 4

'Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.' Danny - age 7

'Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss' Emily - age 8

'Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.' Bobby - age 7

'If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,' Nikka - age 6 (we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)

'Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday.' Noelle - age 7

'Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.' Tommy - age 6

'During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore.' Cindy - age 8

'My mommy loves me more than anybody. You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.' Clare - age 6

'Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.' Elaine-age 5

'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.' Chris - age 7

'Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day' Mary Ann - age 4

'I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.' Lauren - age 4

'When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.' Karen - age 7

'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross.' Mark - age 6

'You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.' Jessica - age 8

And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child. The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, 'Nothing, I just helped him cry'
When there is nothing left,
that is when you find out
that love is all you need.

May every new day be the best one you've lived so far!

Mulligan's

I took the Markus and Max to Mulligan's on Saturday for a little batting practice. What I didn't know is that they close the batting cages if it is even a little bit rainy. So we played miniature golf instead. Markus thought he was on a little adventure all through the course.
And Max won of course. I was a close second though and almost got a hole in one...almost. Anyway, it was fun and actually stopped raining after the 9th hole. Fun times.
