I love state camp! Why?
1. Incredibly good use of time: skating, scrimmaging, shooting, checking, relaxing at Provo beach resort, gearing up, winding down...
2. Rich and sometimes wildly entertaining material: coaching, simulation, stories, ideas...
3. Bumping into old friends, neighbours, acquaintances: even if it's not welcome, you deal with it (or get up at the next break).
We also have a neat little tradition in Utah, as I see it. Some call it politics, but I emphatically disagree. We leave our best players behind for the next season (we even ask each other for certain teams, in rare moments of communication). I can't bear to see talent wasted - I like to see people playing!
