A Hike in the Clouds

This morning

I’m most proud of myself

For making the trek up and down in the clouds

The view was magical

Mount Olympus

I was thinking about how this is all possible from the surgeon who fixed my leg last year, Dr. Higgins. I just learned yesterday that he had a fall himself last year in December while skiing on Cardiff Pass and fell 300 feet, broke multiple bones and a traumatic brain injury. He was rescued and brought to the same hospital where he operated on me. He was in the icu for 3 weeks and then in rehabilitation for several months. He gave a speech at the 25 anniversary of the level 1 trauma center at the University of Utah that he was “this close” to losing his life. I’m so glad he survived but he will not operate again.
