Baseball

Baseball sign ups were today, and Markus is all ready to go as a pee-wee, Max as a minor. I think they are stoked, they wanted to come with me to sign up and wore their baseball caps. Fun stuff.

Morgen

I took Morgen to the Dr. at the urgent care clinic tonight, because he was so pale after school today and laid in the backseat of the car for 1/2 hour crying. I thought that he must be sick, so I gave him some Motrin and called his pediatrician. Turns out he was hypoglycemic, which is a result of his poor eating habits of late. He has been eating only a salad for lunch at school, since I talked to him about not drinking Vault energy drinks. It is not like I told him that he couldn't have it, I just said that I thought he could make a better choice. That was a few weeks ago, and since then I guess he has been eating salads for lunch to show me. The Dr. talked to him about making better food choices including more protein in his diet. We will see if he listens to him better than he listened to me. Oh the joys of motherhood! and teenagers!!!

Informance

Max had his Asian informational performance today, or Informance as they called it at school. He played the drums...

Recited poems...

Played the xylophone...

Danced...

And had a great time preparing for it. The CDT came up every week since January to teach them the dance moves, while the music specialist had been teaching them the songs since the beginning of school. It was a really fun performance to watch.

Friends

Max has really great friends in his class; they are all nice to Markus when I go up to help in Max's class. They know his name and ask him to come sit by them, or they say, "Markus you are so cool!" I can see Markus trying not to smile, but it still happens. Max went snowboarding with a few of his friends on Saturday. They had a great time and made it back in time for his hockey game, exhausted but happy!

Flashback

I decided to scan in my photos from the 2002 Winter Olympics. I can't believe it has been 7 years since they were here in Utah. I had such an amazing experience participating in and attending all of the different events. It was fun to scan in the photos and reminisce.

Icky

I was not feeling very well today. I am not sure if I am getting a cold, or if my allergies are starting up again. I think I will go to bed early tonight. Laters,

Ikea

I had the idea to head to Ikea tonight, so I did and bought a new chair. I love to shop at Ikea.

The Power of Now

I downloaded a podcast for my iPod called "Practicing the Power of Now" which is also by Eckhart Tolle. I finished The New Earth book on Sunday and want to know more. So now I can listen to it in the car and when I am running. I am excited.

Feel the Love

Markus wanted to use his coupon for Build-a-bear, so we finally went today. The line was clear down the mall, but really only took about 45 minutes. He named his monkey "Batman" and got to ring the bell for his birthday (since it is tomorrow). Markus, Morgen and the monkey are pictured above.

Ice Cream Cake

So I stopped by Baskin-Robbins today to buy Markus' cake for his party on Monday, thinking that I would be so prepared. I put it in the back of the car looking like this:

Then I forgot about it until 11:00 tonight and it looked like this:

oops...so much for being prepared. Guess I will be running to BR again on Monday before the party!

Bunny Hop

Markus got to bring the other class pet home today for the long weekend...Bunny Hop. He is the same bunny that was the kindergarten class pet when Max was in Mrs. S class. He has been around and it shows, his poor little hind leg is injured and he limps when he tries to hop.

He still gets around pretty fast though...

Molly was FREAKING out when we first brought him home, but she is tolerating him now.

Baseball

Baseball sign-ups were on Saturday, but I didn't make it over there with all the teaching and hockey that was going on. So I will have to try again on the 28th, when they are having the second day of sign-ups. Markus wants to play this year, 'real baseball', he told me and not T-ball.

Hockey

Max played a great game today and the Bulldogs won, 5 -2. The county hockey league gave all the teams tickets to the Grizzlies game tonight. Max received two tickets and we had a few extras from his coach, so we went. It was a great game and Max was loving it when the Grizzly player scored a "hat trick". He was sitting next to his best friend and laughing and having such a good time. I was just thinking how well kids are at living in the present moment. They don't linger on the past and they aren't thinking about the future too much. They just know what it is all about, living and loving the moment.

Facebook

I have been loving playing around on Facebook, so I haven't been blogging as much. Only so much computer time in a day. It is really fun to reconnect with some old friends. I even found a girl I went to 2nd grade with, crazy!

Purpose

So I started reading this book the other day and can't put it down. It just makes life so simple, live in the present. Nothing else matters, not the past or the future, but this moment, right now. The truth is simple, it's you.

Academic Games

Morgen competed in his first academic games today. They were opposing Wasatch and they did a really good job I think. I don't know much about them of course, since he was just asked to participate this year. Usually the students are from 9th grade, but since he is in 9th for math, his teacher asked if he would like to play. I think he was excited to do it.

Hot Air Balloon Day

Max's class has been working on these hot air balloons, but they haven't been able to fly them due to the weather. So today, they finally were able to launch them and it was a pretty site to see.

I wish that I had my other camera, rather than just my phone, but you can still see this one pretty well.

It was 14 degrees this morning while they were launching the balloons, so all the kids were bundled up in their snow clothes.

One of the balloons caught on fire but the snow quickly put it out and the kids were all excited, of course.

Ground Hog's Day

I hear that Punxsutawney Phil did see his shadow today, so.... six more weeks of winter. Markus was so excited to go to school today to find out if his little ground hog that he had made would see his shadow or not.

My sister Lara's birthday was today as well. Her boyfriend Todd called me yesterday to plan a party for her next Sunday. Happy 43rd Birthday Lara!!!
