A tie, a loss and a blowout

Max's Lightning team tied their game Saturday morning against Park City in the second game of the tournament.

Markus' team lost their game to the Knights 3 -5.

And Max's Lightning team won the third game of the tourney in a 10-1 win over the Jackson Hole Moose. Which put them in the Championship game today.

Australia Day

Today in Markus' class they celebrated Australia Day. The first grade is studying the land down under this year and had a barbie today to celebrate. I helped with the feeding frenzy game and handed out treats after all the little lads feed my friend Brucie.

G'day Mate!

Exhaustion

Connor was released from the hospital today and put on hospice care. The nurse met Sheri at home after she arrived and started Connor on his IV antibiotics. When he has been on them for two weeks the doctors will decide if the infection has been cleared up enough to take him off of them.

Sheri is so exhausted.

Fingers crossed...

Connor had the Picc line put in today as well as a blood tranfusion. He looks so much better...he was almost white last night before the transfusion today. The doctors are hoping he will be able to be sent home and be able to have his antibiotics on hospice care for 2 - 4 weeks at home through his Picc line in his leg. Keep you fingers crossed...
Josslyn has been being such a sweet little girl through all of this.

Visitor

Shane flew back into town tonight and Sheri asked permission, for Josslyn to come up and visit them at the hospital, from the nurses. So I took her up there after teaching and making dinner.

She wanted to kiss and touch him but was only allowed to look from a little ways away. As they are still trying to figure out what caused the infection that he is fighting off.

Science Fair Project

While I was making dinner tonight to take up to Sheri at the hospital Max was working on his science fair project, and having a great time I might add. He had a hockey game as well yesterday and he scored one goal out of the two for the game with the Knights losing 2 -3.

Rough Day

Connor has a fever from some kind of infection. They can't figure out what is causing it, the doctors did a spinal tap today as well as an ultrasound on his kidneys, blood tests, a urine test, a test for RSV and H1N1 and everything has turned out negative so far. They have ordered a CT scan to see if they can detect anything that way and if not then they may have to open his chest up again and see if the infection is in his heart. Meanwhile they have put him on three different antibiotics and an antiviral medication. On top of the morphine and anti-diuretic he was on for his heart. His oxygen saturation keeps on dipping down below his normal levels and his veins are being burned from the IV antibiotics. They may have to put a PICC line in through his leg to his heart to distribute the medications. He isn't nursing and hasn't had any dirty diapers either. In other words, he is having a rough day. How is yours?

Sugar & Spice...

& everything nice, that is what my sweet little niece, Josslyn, is made of. She is so much fun to have at my house. From doing her hair to playing dress up and dolls, she is a joy to have around. So glad that I get to have her while her mom is taking care of Connor at the hospital. She is a terror at night though, and doesn't sleep well at all. She sleeps in my bed and was up every couple of hours last night for a bottle of milk or a binky. She makes up for it during the day though and is adorable.

Baby Connor

Baby Connor was able to go to his own room today, much sooner than Sheri was expecting. The doctors said that he is doing fine and doesn't need constant monitoring so they transported him up to the third floor, surgery recovery unit. Sheri is not sure they made the right decision, as he seems really unstable, but the PICU was really crowded with little sick heart babies and so I guess Connor was one of the stronger ones.

Sweet Heart

When I woke up this morning at 5:30, it was to the sound of Sheri giving Connor a bath. After she put his lotion on, I held him and rocked him while Sheri finished getting ready. He is a sweet little baby and so calm, he didn't even cry when she gave him his medicine.

Shane and Sheri drove to Primary's at 6:30 to be there for his surgery at 8. They went up there yesterday but weren't able to have the surgery because the doctor decided that he wanted to do another Echo first just to make sure his lungs were ready for surgery

After I took my boys to school, I headed up there and they were just prepping him for surgery and sedating him. He came out of surgery 3 1/2 hours later, and the doctors all said that everything went as planned in the surgery.

When we walked into the NICU after he was out of surgery, Sheri and I both just started crying. I was trying to be strong for her, but I just couldn't help it.

He was just getting weaned off of the ventilator when I left to pick the boys up from school. Sheri was able to hold him not long afterwards and the doctor told them to expect anywhere from 5 - 10 days for his recovery from this surgery. Then the next one will have to be in about 2 months or when his skin starts to turn blue, indicating that he is not getting enough oxygen again.

Pond Hockey anyone?

One of Max's coaches sent me this photo of the pond hockey game he played on Saturday. He was having a blast!

Company

Shane, Sheri, Josslyn, Connor and Ashley came to stay for 10-12 days depending upon how quickly Connor recovers from his surgery. Lara is going on a trip to San Diego and her son Tanner has had the swine flu so they couldn't stay with her this time. I enjoy having them here and Morgen, Max and Markus all love looking at Connor and playing with Josslyn.

Lightning vs. Grizzlies

Max's Lightning team had two games this week. One on Tuesday night vs. Park City (Lightning won 5-1 I think) and one Friday evening vs. the Jr. Grizzlies team (it was a tie 2-2). He is having a great time playing hockey, especially when he gets to play on a pond in Park City. He went yesterday to play with some of his team mates outside. I had to teach but I heard he had a fun time.
