Happy Easter

Some "majestic" eggs courtesy of Max and Markus. lol

I found this quote the other other day and have been thinking about it:

"The purpose of the task is to improve the relationship."

It has made such a difference in how I approach each task, each day. No official authorities have confirmed this, but I think it is helping me be a better mom.

When I picked up little mister 9 from school I turned off my audio book and listened. Because the purpose of the task is to strengthen the relationship.

When my 12 year old needed help with his book report, I chose my advice and words with greater care. Because the purpose of the task is to strengthen the relationship.

When my teenager asked me to run him to Del Taco, because he didn't want to use his own car to save gas, I laughed with him and looked at it as more time to talk. Because the purpose of the task is to strengthen the relationship.

When I took my same teenager to his counselor, I tried to let him do more of the talking and was in absolutely no hurry. Because the purpose of the task is to strengthen the relationship.

When Markus invited me to watch the Muppets movie with him earlier, I did not bring my planner along and try to do 10 things at once. I snuggled in the blankets with him and just watched. Because the purpose of the task is to strengthen the relationship.

When my boys wanted to color eggs today before going to Aunt Marilee's house for dinner, I let them start right in. Because the purpose of the task is to strengthen the relationship.

For me, this thought has changed everything.
