First Goal!

Markus scored his very first goal in hockey today. He was pretty excited and Max announced it for him in the locker room after the game.

After teaching lessons this afternoon, we went out to the Grizzlies Game for Markus to play a scrimmage game during the break between the first and second periods.

Some of the players from the Badgers hockey team who played at the Grizzlies game tonight. (L to r: Jerry, Paul, E.J., Josh, Kasen, Garett, Markus, Cole, and Owen.)

He had a great night and scored a goal while he was playing and Max said that they replayed it on the jumbo-tron.

The other Mite team that the Badgers were supposed to play tonight only had 5 players show up, so Markus' coach asked for volunteers to play for the Knights team. Since no one wanted to do it, he choose 2 numbers between 1 and 10 and had two boys wear the Knights jerseys. One of the boys was his son, Garrett and he started crying, since he did not want to play on the other team. Markus saw him crying and I asked him if he would do it for him and he consented. He actually knew the boy who's jersey he was wearing, scored a goal and afterwards, his coach took him up to get an ice cream for volunteering to take one for the team. So it was a win-win situation for him!

He was very excited to meet the Captian of the Grizzlies team, as he remembered when Max was able to ask him questions two years ago. But for some reason, they didn't do the meet and greet this year, so he was kind of disappointed about that but still had a great time playing on the Grizzlies ice. The Grizzlies played a good game but lost in overtime to the Idaho Steelheads. We didn't get home until after 10, late but fun night for that little guy!
