4th of July Fun Run
Yesterday at the Murray Fun Days fun run, back row, L to R: Jeff, Tanya, Todd, Noah, Ashley, Mark, B, Ben. Front row: Sammie, Markus, Morgen.
What a busy fun filled fourth. The day started out with most of the fam running in the 5K and kids run, except for Max who was in the parade with some of the hockey players from the rink.

After the parade finished, we sat and watched the awards ceremony for the race and the prize drawing. Markus won a transformer and was pretty happy with his prize. Then we were invited to my sister in law Tanya's parents home for breakfast. We ate and then watched the hot dog eating contest on their 20' big screen.

Then the party moved up to Heber where we met my parents to go to the music festival in Midway. Monet, Rocco and her girls as well as Marilee and Greg were waiting for us in Midway. I invited my student Amanda to join us, as she was home alone for the weekend. Her Aunt and Uncle that she lives with were camping at Soapstone basin, but she had to work so wasn't able to go. So she came with us instead and I'm so glad she did. She is such a delightful girl. She picked a huge bowl of fresh raspberries from her garden and brought them to share with everyone.

From Midway, our caravan moved through Kamas, where Sheri, Shane and her girls joined in. Then we went up to Mirror Lake for a picnic and hike. It was so beautiful, my goodness. It felt so good to get up out of the heat. Once we sprayed everyone with mosquito repellent three times, the bugs started to stay away. I only ended up with about three bites. Markus had a great time exploring around the lake with Aria and Whitney. Max loved skipping rocks from along the edge. He skipped one six times! He was very pleased with himself.

After the sun went down we headed back to Ma Buck's for some fireworks in the backyard. The country club puts on a huge display every year, and they have front row seats since their backyard faces the golf course. We usually make it back to our house to see the ones from the park, but this year, the boys stayed and played bumper cars with the little kiddie cars instead. By the time we got home they were too tired to light off their own fireworks we bought at the stand so we did that tonight instead. I don't think we could have squeezed one more thing in the day if I had tried.

The only glitch in the day came when Ma Buck told Ben about his dad. At the parade they were talking and she informed him that Pa Buck had gone in for his yearly heart check up and that his heart is dilated. They think that he has congestive heart failure and that he is too old for a heart transplant. It was not very good news and he took it really hard.
